This blog has been created for Lakes residents in Hollywood, Florida to voice their opinions and concerns about excessive vehicular volume, speeding, stopsign running, and the construction project that is making a bad situation even worse. Hopefully our local politicians will read the concerns of the same people that voted them into office. We want action!!!

West Lake Village Traffic...Where is it going???
With the closure of so many of the Avenues across Hollywood Boulevard, does this mean that the 1000's of cars that come and go to/from West Lake Village will now be re-routed to 13th Avenue? This can mean an additional 500-2000 cars per day on 13th Avenue. Don't forget. Every car that leaves must return. And every visitor must leave.
12th Avenue is MUCH Wider than 13th Avenue
I have noticed that 12th Avenue is MUCH wider than 13th Avenue...especially around Northlake and almost all of the way to Washington Street. Why did't the City of Hollywood divert some, or all, of the traffic to 12th Avenue?
11th Avenue Residents Force City to Close Traffic Across 11th Avenue
I heard that 11th Avenue residents forced the City of Hollywood to place a solid median at 11th Avenue rather than the PLANNED turn (or u-turn...however you call it). So residents can make a difference. Even if FDOT has been planning this project for 10 year. Thank again Patty for all of your help.

What traffic impact can we expect when the Hollywood Boulevard Reconstruction Project is complete?
We can expect that all of the neighborhood traffic will be routed to 13th Avenue. That means that nearly every car traveling from Dania to Hallandale, or vice versa, will be zooming north and south on 13th Avenue. Anybody living in the Lakes that needs to cross Hollywood Boulevard will have to take one of the presidential streets east or west to get to 13th Avenue. This will especially impact HARRISON STREET and TYLER STREET.
Do the Mayor, Commissioners, or Police Chief have any say with regards to the Hollywood Boulevard Reconstruction Project?
Do the Mayor, Commissioners, or Police chief have any say in the matter? They tell me flat out, "NO." They say that FDOT is running the show. I say that if FDOT wanted to build a highrise in the middle of Hollywood Boulevard, then the City would surely have a say in the matter. So why do our local politicians absolve themselves of any and all responisiblty whatsoever?
Flooding and Water Pumping Stations
Why did the entire neighborhood flood with the heavy rains?
I talked to one of my neighbors who said that he walked over to the new pumping station on 14th Avenue on the east side of the golf course during the flooding. He said that the pumping station was silent. He then called the City of Hollywood and they said that it was working just fine.
My wife spoke with the UPS deliver man who had just delivered a package to the Marina. He said that he had just spoken with one of the City of Hollywood employees from the Department of Public Utilities about the flooding. The employee gave the UPS delivery man some ridiculous answer like, "Oh yeah...the pump here at the marina is not working. It has been broken for a while and we are waiting on parts to repair the damn thing."
In the mean time, many of our homes sustained flood damage. Do we have legitimate complaint for a class suit?

Who is really in charge of the Hollywood Blvd Reconstruction Project?
Who is really in charge of the Hollywood Boulevard Reconstruction Project? FDOT? City of Hollywood? The City says that it is FDOT. I cannot believe that FDOT can do whatever it pleases without the approval of the City of Hollywood. Especially that this neighborhood is a historic neighborhood. Didn't the Historic Preservation board have to approve the Hollywood Boulevard Reconstruction Project? Oh...I forgot, the realtors, architects, and contractors who represent the Lakes homeowners are probably on the payroll from FDOT and all of the contractors working on the project.
Traffic Flow and Rerouting Traffic
What is the City of Hollywood doing about the traffic flow and rerouting traffic? I live on 13th Avenue and I do not believe that anybody has ever asked for my opinion...Oh wait. One of my neighbors reminded me of a questionairre that the City of Hollywood sent out to homeowners abour 4 years ago. Yes...they did in fact ask for my opinion.
In fact, every homeowner with whom I have spoken has told me that they have called the City to protest the traffic rerouting to 13th Avenue.
The City told me that I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS COMPLAINED. Can you believe that?
